Speakers
How nice it was to hear from our District leadership. Art Davis, the District Governor, joined by Bob Giles, the Assistant District Governor, complemented us on how well we are doing in supporting so many causes. He encouraged everyone to participate in the Rotary Foundation and explained how one can become a Paul Harris Fellow within a year contributing as little as $83.27 per month. Governor Davis also encouraged everyone to wear your pins, request an application for a license plate, and participate in this years District Conference. He is requesting that everyone participate in finding new members by shouting out Rotary and all that it represents. If you would like more information on any of the subjects Governor Davis touched on, please visit the District website at http://www.rotary6450.org/pages/default.asp
Club Business
We are getting closer to print….If you haven’t seen Jim Mitchell with your ad for our placemats, please do so soon.
We are getting closer.....Saturday, November 3rd is the date for our Annual Auction. As a reminder, every member is responsible for $100.00 (10 tickets) in ticket sales and $100.00 in donations. See Gary Woll for additional Contribution Forms. Remember this is the one major event of the year. The success of this event is directly related to our charitable giving and with recent state budget cuts our local organizations will need additional support. Please get all ticket money and especially donations in by October 25th so that final details can be completed.
Just a friendly reminder that 2nd quarter membership dues are now due. Please see John Lewis if you have any questions.

This week in history…… October 15, 1966 Huey Newton and Bobby Seale formed the Black Panther Party for Self-Defense in Oakland, California. Its revolutionary agenda, and the fact that it was armed, prompted FBI Chief J. Edgar Hoover to refer to it as "the greatest threat to the internal security of the United States."
