Speakers
Sept. 6th: Dr. Terry Smith, Director of PAEC (Proviso Area for Exceptional Children) gave us an update on what has been happening at this great learning institution.
Sept. 13th: Dr. Julie Robinson, Clinic Director of Concordia University Chicago Community Counseling Center joined us to spread the word on this wonderful program available to all who can get to it. Please visit WWW.CUChicago.edu to read about all they have to offer.
Sept. 20th: Pastor Eliot Winbush graced us with a very moving musical number. He explained how the First Congregational Church of Maywood is reaching out to the community to serve as well as inspire. Although this site is in need of updating, you can read about this community icon at http://www.firstchurchmaywood.org.
Sept. 27th: Robert Libka, our new Superintendent of District 209 gave his first public appearance since accepting this position. He touched base on several topics you will soon hear about in the local media. Please judge him for your self by reading his reports to the board after each meeting at http://www.pths209.org.
Club Business
If you haven’t seen Jim Mitchell with your ad for our placemats, please do. The cost is $60 for a business card size ad. We need to fill about 40 spaces so tell your friends, family and business associates about this inexpensive form of advertisement.
Saturday, November 3rd is the date for our Annual Auction. As a reminder, every member is responsible for $100.00 (10 tickets) in ticket sales and $100.00 in donations. Tickets were passed out, so if you did not receive yours please see Chuck Laabs. Donations can be gathered from local businesses, friends, family, co-workers, or anyone else you can think of. Items should be new, gently used, or really cool. Think…would you bid on this if you wanted it? Donations can be in the form of dinners, seminars, gift certificates, vacation spots, airline miles, theater tickets, etc.. See Gary Woll for additional Contribution Forms. Remember this is the one major event of the year. The success of this event is directly related to our charitable giving and with recent state budget cuts our local organizations will need additional support. Please get all ticket money and especially donations in by October 25th so that final details can be completed.
Just a friendly reminder that 2nd quarter membership dues are now due. Please see John Lewis if you have any questions.
